FAQs
What is an Escape Game?

It’s an immersive live action adventure that takes place in a themed room. Players follow the story and decipher puzzles and clues to complete the objective within the allotted amount of time.

What makes you different from other escape rooms?

At Time Traveler Escape Games, we base our rooms on little-known history and legends from Charleston's past. You'll be playing in a beautiful restored 1880's building where you'll travel back in time to solve mysteries and complete missions based on real events from Charleston's history.

We are now proud to offer all private games, meaning you won't have to play with people you don't know.

We're also the only escape room in town that has a spacious lounge and bar in our lobby. Enjoy wine, local beers, or soft drinks while you play your game (yes, you can take a drink into the room!).

Are we really locked in a room?

No. The doors will never lock behind you and you’ll be able to leave whenever you like.

Are the lights turned off?

No. Some rooms may be darker than others but the lights will never be fully extinguished.

How much does it cost?

Our 60-minute games are $32.99 per person. Active or retired military personnel and first responders may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $29.99 per person.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes. Active or retired military personnel and first responders may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $29.99 per person. When booking your tickets, please select "Military/First Responder" as the ticket type and the price will automatically adjust. ID check may be required.

How old do you have to be to play?

Our rooms are for players ages 8+. Some of the content in the Lavinia Fisher's Boarding House room may be too intense for children under the age of 12. Unfortunately, children younger than 8 are not allowed in our facility. This includes infants and children in strollers.

Do I need to make a reservation/purchase tickets in advance?

Yes; reservations are required. Purchasing tickets in advance is the only way to guarantee entry. We are unable to accommodate walk-ins at this time. Click here to Book Your Game.

If I don’t have enough people to fill the room will strangers be allowed in with us?

All our rooms are reserved privately for your group, unless you're playing Vincent Chicco's Speakeasy which will be open to multiple groups.

What happens if I arrive late?

For the indoor games we ask that you arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. This allows time for group orientation and ensures we have time to thoroughly sanitize the room between groups. The game begins exactly at the time you signed up for. Your game time may be shortened if you are late. Games will not start if you arrive more than 20 minutes late and THERE ARE NO REFUNDS or RESCHEDULING FOR LATE ARRIVALS. Please account for the traffic and parking and plan accordingly.

For the Vincent Chicco's Speakeasy experience we ask you arrive at the designated meeting place 5-10 minutes before your start time. Your starting point will be messaged to the person who booked your group 24 hours before your game.

Do you offer team building for businesses?

Yes, we offer a number of options for team building, from playing single or multiple rooms to booking the entire space (including our beautiful lounge). We also offer the option of a professional trainer/coach to work with your team. Please contact us for more information.

Do you sell gift certificates?

Yes, we sell gift certificates online. All gift certificates include SC Admissions tax, so your recipient won't have to pay tax when they book their room. Gift certificates can be printed or sent electronically. To purchase a gift certificate, please click here.

What if I need to change or cancel my reservation?

Our games are non-refundable. If you need to cancel please call or email.

What should I wear?

Casual clothing and comfortable shoes are suggested.

Where are you located?

Time Traveler Escape Games is located at 579 King Street on the 2nd and 3rd floors. 579 King Street is in the block between Spring and Cannon Streets in the Upper King Street neighborhood. There are dozens of restaurants located within a few blocks of our location.

Is your building accessible for mobility-impaired persons?

There is an elevator in our building that provides access to the second floor. As a result, our lobby, lounge and one of our game rooms (located on the 2nd floor) are easily accessible for mobility-impaired customers. Two additional game rooms are located on the third floor, which is accessible only via a flight of stairs. If you need assistance accessing our location, please give us a call.

Where should I park?

There is metered parking on King Street and other surrounding streets as well as a city-run parking garage at The Hyatt Place hotel directly across from us on King Street. The current rate at that parking garage is $2 per hour.
