What is an Escape Game?
It’s an immersive live action adventure that takes place in a themed room. Players follow the story and decipher puzzles and clues to complete the objective within the allotted amount of time.
What makes you different from other escape rooms?
At Time Traveler Escape Games, we base our rooms on little-known history and legends from Charleston's past. You'll be playing in a beautiful restored 1880's building where you'll travel back in time to solve mysteries and complete missions based on real events from Charleston's history.
We're also the only escape room in town that has a spacious lounge and bar in our lobby! Join us before or after your game to relax and enjoy wine, local beers, or soft drinks while playing tabletop puzzles. Enjoy a cozy nook perfect for two or, for larger groups, spread out across our comfy sofas and pub tables for team building or social events.
Are we really locked in a room?
No. The doors will never lock behind you and you’ll be able to leave whenever you like.
Are the lights turned off?
No. Some rooms may be darker than others but the lights will never be fully extinguished.
How much does it cost?
Our 60-minute games are $28 per person. Active or retired military personnel and first responders may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $25 per person.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes. Active or retired military personnel and first responders may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $25 per person. When booking your tickets, please select "Military/First Responder" as the ticket type and the price will automatically adjust.
How old do you have to be to play?
Our rooms are designed for players ages 14+. Children ages 14-17 may book any room as long as they are accompanied by a parent or adult guardian. Children ages 8-13 are allowed in The Apothecary room if the room is booked as a private room (full room purchased for your party). For everyone's safety, there must be a responsible parent/guardian over the age of 21 in every room that includes children. Some of the content in the Lavinia Fisher's Boarding House room may not be appropriate for children under the age of 14. Therefore, if you wish to include children ages 8-13 in your party, please choose The Apothercary room. Please call us if you have any questions.
Do I need to make a reservation/purchase tickets in advance?
Yes; reservations are highly recommended. Purchasing tickets in advance is the only way to guarantee entry. We accommodate walk-ins when space allows. Click here to Book Your Game.
If I don’t have enough people to fill the room will strangers be allowed in with us?
Our rooms hold from 2-8 people. Purchasing all the tickets for a room or booking a private room are the only ways to ensure a private experience. If you only buy tickets for your party and there are extra tickets available, it’s possible that people you don’t know may purchase those tickets and join your adventure. However, playing our rooms with others is a great way to meet new friends and results in having more collaborators to help you solve the puzzles.
What happens if I arrive late?
We ask that you arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled time. This is essential to everyone's experience, especially if you have not reserved the entire room to yourselves! The game begins exactly at the time you signed up for. You may not be permitted into the room if you are late. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS or RESCHEDULING FOR LATE ARRIVALS. Please account for the traffic and parking and plan accordingly.
I want to celebrate a birthday/bachelor or bachelorette party. Do I need to book a private room?
Yes, for parties or special events, we suggest you book the entire game room for your group. If you have a larger party, please contact us to enquire about booking our entire space, including our beautiful lounge.
Do you offer team building for businesses?
Yes, we offer a number of options for team building, from playing single or multiple rooms to booking the entire space (including our beautiful lounge). We also offer the option of a professional trainer/coach to work with your team. Please contact us for more information.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes, we sell gift certificates online. We offer a variety of options from 1-4 prepaid tickets or a private room for up to 8 people. All gift certificates include SC Admissions tax, so your recipient won't have to pay tax when they book their room. Gift certificates can be printed or sent electronically. To purchase a gift certificate, please click here.
What if I need to change or cancel my reservation?
Changes and cancellations are allowed up to 48 hours or more before reservation. Within 24-48 hours before reservation, customers may reschedule their reservation with no penalty, but refunds are not allowed. No changes/rescheduling or refunds with less than 24 hours notice.
What should I wear?
Casual clothing and comfortable shoes are suggested.
